This Year's Festival of Trains
It has become obvious to us that the Festival of Trains cannot go on as it has in previous years amid the Covid-19 pandemic. It is neither realistic, nor safe, to host such a large-scale indoor event given the resources available to the group. This is why we have decided to host a modified version of the event, which has been nicknamed the Festival of Trains: Department Store Edition. Department stores were once the center of the retail industry in the United States. During the holidays, they would typically have a train layout in a display window for people on the streets to enjoy. This is the inspiration for the way we are going to host this year’s Festival of Trains. Only train layouts and operators will be on the inside, while the public will be able to view the 100 feet of window train displays from the outside; warm, fluffy jackets recommended! The public will not be allowed inside. This will, most importantly, keep the public safe by allowing for more room to social distance outside, in addition to protecting staff and participants on the inside.
With the fluidity of Covid-19 and its associated regulations, plans regarding the Festival may change at a moment’s notice. Updates will be posted regularly on our Facebook page and on our new update page.
